Experience
I taught high school math for three years as a full-time teacher in Oakland, CA as a Teach For America corps member and head of my school's math department. I have thousands of hours of teaching experience in all levels of high school math from Algebra to Calculus, as well as experience in middle school math classrooms. I also have a degree in biology and solid scientific background as a medical student. I am familiar with the Common Core math standards and use an inquiry-based approach working with students one-on-one. I hold a secondary mathematics California teaching credential and am trained in teaching techniques such as lesson planning, effective questions, and utilizing checks for understanding throughout the lesson to gauge the student's level of understanding.
