Education

Master's Degree, Political Science Bachelor's Degree, Political Science Teacher Certification, Secondary Social Studies - Rhode Island

Experience

My background consists of a completed Bachelor's degree in Political Science. I received this degree from Towson University in Towson, Maryland in May of 2012. Additionally, I have a Master's of Science in Political Science from the University of Nebraska - Omaha. Finally, I am a certified Secondary Social Studies teacher in Rhode Island. I have taken a great many classes including, European, Asian, and American governments, the history of politics in energy, and political theory. Additionally, I took classes covering a wide range of humanities and the social sciences. Including, Western and Eastern history, American History, Scientific Geography, Western and Eastern Geography, Core Logic, Sociology, and Psychology. Similarly, I have taken a number of those types of classes at the University of Nebraska. Including, American Government, Politics in Film, Political Theory, and Minority Politics. My practical experience includes my time at university and in the workforce. I have written numerous papers within the realm of the humanities and the social sciences. All of which I received a high mark on. My works include a Seminar paper on Presidential Transition, a 400-Level paper on the Political Geography of Japan, a graduate case study of female success in local elections, and a graduate study on minority voting patterns. Additionally, I have successfully taught numerous courses and seminars on both the practical and theoretical side of politics. I taught a number of classes on what makes a successful campaign. Including, how to recruit volunteers, how to 'dial for dollars', and how to speak to prospective constituents. I have also taught seminars to local volunteers on the history of local campaigns, incorporating political theory and general political history. Finally, I have a wide experience with class level and small group presentations within the humanities and social sciences. And have a great deal of experience with a wide range of research tools. I would be happy to help any person in need of tutoring within the realm of social sciences and the humanities. I feel I could be beneficial with advice on drafting papers, short essays, presentations, debate notes, and discussion boards. I would be able to fill in any missing background information and tie our discussion in with your current assignments. Additionally, I would begin our sessions by asking questions, providing answers, and finish by offering advice. I would expect to proof read and edit papers, provide sample notes and provide guidance in note taking, aid in research techniques, fill in any missing gaps, and provide interesting ways of retaining what is sometimes tedious information. My background is best geared toward those in the Secondary grades. But, I could provide some guidance to elementary age students in terms of geography and history.
