Experience
I started tutoring as an undergrad and have 10 years experience. I currently teach physics at a community college and I enjoy teaching very much. I have been a faculty member there for little over 3 years. My tutoring philosophy is that I like explaining to my students why things are the way they are, not just how to solve a problem. I focus on explaining intuition first and direct practice exercises toward building intuition and general understanding so that students can then successfully understand problems when they're on their own. I also like to explain how different topics that the student has learned are interrelated instead of teaching the material in a vacuum. I find this makes it much easier for students to retain the material in the long run.

Hobbies
I like to spend time with my wonderful wife and two sons who are under 4. I enjoy documentaries and a good comedy. I also enjoy the outdoors and like to go "quahoging," which is Rhode Island speak for clamming. While clamming you get to be near the water, dig in the dirt/sand, and gather dinner at the same time.
