Junior studying Mathematical Physics at Brown University

Experience

I have 5 years of tutoring experience going back to high school, in subjects from pre-algebra to multivariable calculus and advanced electromagnetism. I also have extensive classroom experience; I've independently taught SAT prep, proof-based multivariable calculus, algebra, and computer science at the high school and middle school levels. I scored a perfect 800 on the Math SAT with a composite 2260 (out of 2400), as well as 780 on the SAT Math and Physics subject tests. I also just return from a summer doing particle physics research at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN in Geneva, Switzerland. I've always been an academic, and my love of learning and teaching guides me more than anything. My work as a tutor is one of the most rewarding things I get to do, and I am honored to have the opportunity to help you or your child find their success in whatever academic challenges they face. For 5 years I've brought dozens of students from failing to As/Bs, or from successful to the very top of their game. In the process I've learned that no two students are the same, and it requires special care to find the right approach for every individual student, and I look forward to the challenge with each new student to find how they best learn and guide them toward their long-term success. Any tutor will tell you how students need to understand there's not just one correct way to solve a given problem, but what sets apart a good tutor is understanding that there's not just one correct way to help a student either. Every student requires special assistance, and I've developed a knack for learning how to best work with each of my students. From there, I work with the student to make sure they understand the material at its fundamentals in an intuitive way. I always ask *why* students use certain methods, not just how to get to the answer, then ensure they can independently understand and solve problems, which demonstrates true proficiency. In my work I strive to ensure the long-term success of the student, and to show them the motivating aspects of the material so they may find some excitement in Math and Physics topics that are often perceived as boring. What I offer best is not just a quick fix for the next test (though I can guarantee short-term improvement of course), but rather helping lay the foundations for long-term success and comfort in math or physics. I look forward to helping you or your child next!

Hobbies

I am and always will be a musician at heart. I've been in various ensembles and now play percussion in the pep band, and also sing and play guitar in my free time. I've always been fascinated by stories as well; You'll often find me writing or reading, and sometimes doing improv. I also have a knack for bringing people together, and lead a couple community organizations on campus. My plan is to become a professor of physics, because I never want to stop learning and teaching.
