Maggie S.
Private tutor in Providence, RI
Education
I graduated from The George Washington University with a degree in Psychology and Biology. I continued my education at The University of Connecticut, where I received my doctoral degree in Biochemistry in 2013. After completing my PhD, I took a two-year teaching and research postdoctoral position at Colgate University, where I taught undergraduate chemistry courses and conducted protein crystallography research. I am currently conducting biochemistry research at Brown University.
Experience
I have over 8 years of teaching and tutoring experience. I was a teaching assistant during most of my graduate studies. While at UConn, I took courses on teaching at the undergraduate level in addition to my discipline specific coursework. At Colgate I mentored undergraduate students on their coursework and research and also taught a variety of chemistry courses: • General Chemistry I (CHEM 101) • General Chemistry II (CHEM 102) • Proteins and Nucleic Acids (Biochemistry, CHEM 353) • Biophysical Chemistry methods (CHEM 385) • Bioenergetics (CHEM 454) As someone who has taught these course at the collegiate level, I am ready to help you succeed in similar courses at your University! I can also help high school students succeed in their chemistry courses and ensure they are prepared for future classes if they plan to pursue the sciences in college.
